The 2014 Vancouver Writers Festival What It’s Is All About

There was much celebrating at the 2014 Vancouver Writers Festival, where writers, poets, and lovers of stories and poems gathered to feast on the art of reading and storytelling. The organizers of the festival made sure that everyone who joined had their chance of appreciating how books can change one’s life – and the world. The festival has been commemorated since 1988. It is usually attended by different types of writers that do various styles and niches. One of the most anticipated is the yearly mainstay – the Literary Cabaret. Live music plays while the writers read onstage. It’s somewhat stimulating and exciting.

Authors are also invited to impart their knowledge of writing and sign their books as well. These authors write different genres and the organizers love this because they want young hopeful writers to explore their passion and think about what they love to write. They want diversity across the globe, which is why they invite younger generations from provinces too. In the past, they have gotten tremendously awesome feedback when they were able to invite authors all the way from South Africa and Pakistan.

Not Your Typical Festival

A literary festival is not your usual festival that’s mostly drinking and shouting and getting wasted. As one organizer said, it’s filled with a great talk about things that really matter. You don’t need to be an author to attend one. You don’t even have to be an amateur writer looking to improve his skills. You just have to be a curious someone who is interested in finding inspiration in things – in books, specifically. Once you give it a chance and you mingle, you might discover how much pleasure reading and listening to writers gives you.
